Concrete grinding that earns the next step.

Diamond grinding for coating removal, slab leveling, and surface profiling. The grind decides whether everything installed after it lives or dies, which is why we treat it as its own trade, not a checkbox.

What sets it apart

What a Suncrete grinding pass gets right.

Anyone can rent a grinder. The difference is in the tooling choices, the dust handling, and knowing when to stop cutting.

01 / TOOLING

Matched to the job

PCD tooling rips off mastic and failed epoxy. Metal-bond diamonds cut clean concrete to profile. Running the wrong tooling burns time and glazes the slab; we carry both on every truck.

02 / DUST

Silica handled properly

Every grinder runs inside a HEPA-shrouded vacuum loop. Occupied homes, stocked warehouses, working kitchens: the dust stays in the extractor, not on your inventory or in your lungs.

03 / PROFILE

Ground to a spec, not a feel

Coatings bond to a CSP profile, not to “rough enough.” We grind to the profile the next system actually needs, CSP 1 for densifiers up through CSP 5 for heavy builds, and document it.

Why this system

The longer answer on concrete grinding.

Concrete grinding is the trade underneath every other trade we sell. A polish is a grind refined to a sheen. A coating is chemistry bonded to a grind. A self-leveling overlay is only as flat as the grind below it. So when a slab comes to us with failed epoxy, trowel ridges, carpet glue, tile thinset, paint, or a high spot that rocks the racking, the answer starts with diamonds, never with acid etching and never with “it should be fine.”

The work splits into three jobs. Removal: PCD tooling strips coatings, mastics, and adhesives down to bare concrete. Leveling: high spots get cut flat, ramps get feathered, trip hazards at joints get ground to code. Profiling: the finished surface gets opened to the CSP texture the next system needs to bond. Sometimes the grind IS the finish, plenty of South Florida warehouses run on a clean-ground bare slab with a penetrating sealer over it.

Every floor failure we get called to fix traces back to somebody skipping the grind. The diamonds are cheaper than the do-over.

Grinding pairs with almost everything else in the kit: it is step one of commercial polished concrete, the prep behind every commercial epoxy install, and the honest version of floor prep for other installers who want to pour onto a surface that will hold. Ground floors we have cut are in the gallery. Send a photo and square footage and you will have a real quote in 24 hours.

Where it shows up

Common concrete grinding projects.

The four calls we get most. If yours is not on the list, the walkthrough sorts it out.

01

Failed coating removal

Peeling DIY epoxy, delaminated paint, sun-baked sealers. PCD tooling takes it back to bare concrete in one pass so the replacement system bonds to slab, not to somebody else’s mistake.

02

Glue and thinset grinding

After tile demo or carpet rip-out, the slab is a moonscape of thinset and mastic. We grind it flat and clean, the mandatory step between demo and whatever floor comes next.

03

Leveling and trip hazards

Slab curl at joints, high spots under racking lines, sidewalk lips that fail inspection. Ground flat to tolerance and documented, usually faster and cheaper than mudjacking or overlays.

04

Profiling for the next system

Epoxy, urethane cement, overlays, and polish each want a different surface texture. We grind to the specified CSP so the system on top bonds the way its data sheet promises.

Concrete grinding questions

What people ask us most.

How much dust does concrete grinding make?

Almost none that you will see. Every grinder runs inside a HEPA-shrouded vacuum loop, the same OSHA silica-rule setup we use in occupied homes and stocked warehouses. Fine dust at the edges, not a cloud.

Can you remove old epoxy, glue, or thinset?

Yes, that is half the grinding work we do. PCD tooling strips coatings and adhesives down to bare concrete in one pass. It is priced into the quote up front, never discovered on day two.

How flat can you get a slab?

Flat enough for racking lines, overlays, and polish specs. High spots get cut, joints get feathered, and we check with a straightedge as we go. If the slab needs more correction than grinding can give, we will tell you and quote a self-leveling overlay instead.

What is a CSP profile and why does it matter?

Concrete Surface Profile, the industry scale for surface texture from CSP 1 (near-smooth) to CSP 9 (heavily scarified). Every coating data sheet specifies one. Grinding to the wrong profile is why coatings peel, so we grind to the number, not to a guess.

Can you coat or seal the floor the same day you grind it?

Often, yes. Grinding leaves the slab clean and dry, so a sealer or basecoat can usually go down the same day, moisture readings permitting. That is how most garage jobs run start to finish in a weekend.

Do you grind outdoors, driveways and pool decks?

Yes. Outdoor grinding handles sidewalk trip hazards, driveway coating removal, and pool-deck prep. Wet or dry methods depending on the surroundings, with containment either way.
